About Seattle's 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program
Thank you for inquiring about Ki McGraw and Bob Smith's
200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. Ki and Bob have successfully
led twelve training groups over the past eight years and look forward
to leading another one. The next Seattle training is scheduled to
start in the Fall of 2008 and applicants are now being accepted
into the program. Ki and Bob are accomplished Hatha Yoga practitioners
and meditators, with a combined teaching experience of 45 years,
who have put together a powerful set of two day weekend trainings.
All workshops will take place at the Hatha Yoga Center in Seattle
. There will be one weekend workshop per month, starting the first
weekend of October. The first four weekend gatherings will be: October
4 & 5, November 1 & 2, December 6 & 7, 2008 & January
3 & 4. In these weekend training sessions that will continue
through the winter and spring you will receive asana, pranayama,
and meditation instruction; as well as Yoga philosophy, anatomy
as it applies to asana practice, and many other pertinent aspects
of teaching Yoga. During the program you will learn to teach Yoga
safely and wisely, with many opportunities for student teaching.
Ki and Bob's Yoga teacher training program is registered by the
Yoga Alliance. As such, your certificate of completion from them
will allow you to register with this accreditation board which is
recognized world wide.
The instructional cost for the entire 200 hour training is $2,400.
Payment is to be made on a monthly basis of $135 per two day weekend
workshop that you attend. You can enter this program at anytime
during the first three weekend gatherings; after this we will not
be accepting new applicants. Asana practice and learning how to
teach asana will always be an important part of each weekend - some
of the afternoon subject matters for these weekends will include:
pranayama, meditation, lineage, the Yoga Sutras, the Upanishads,
mantra and yantra, the Bhagavad Gita, living the life of a Western
Yogi – Yogini; ethics, anatomy as it applies to asana practice,
how to work with injuries, and specific practices of teaching.
Ki and Bob have have only one main requirement before you can enter
their training program – this being that you have practiced
Hatha Yoga for at least two years before you can be admitted. One
other commitment they ask is that you practice Yoga daily during
the program. Finally, they ask that each graduating student submit
a video of a Yoga class they have taught before a certificate is
given. As mentioned earlier, the certificates Ki and Bob hand out
are recognized by the U.S. national Yoga board, the Yoga Alliance.
With the certificate you will be able to register with the Yoga
Alliance as a Yoga instructor.
